Sofia Garcia (age 7) was selected by Harbor Regional Center to help with the Christmas celebration in Sacramento. Sofia, her mother Elia, and representatives of Harbor Regional Center had a busy schedule during their three day visit to our state Capitol, visiting with their elected officials and touring the Capitol. Sofia was born prematurely at 29 weeks; was diagnosed with Autism at around two years of age and began receiving services through the Early Start program.

The Capitol Christmas Tree is illuminated by approximately 10,000 ultra-low wattage LED lights and decorated with more than 900 hand-crafted ornaments made by children and adults with developmental disabilities who receive services and support from the state’s development centers and 21 nonprofit regional centers.
