June 27, 2016

Sacramento - On Friday, June 24th at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Senator Tony Mendoza held the First Annual Young Senators Leadership Program (YSLP) Graduation Dinner honoring his 2015-16 class of YSLP graduate

“I congratulate and am very proud of the Young Senators Class of 2016. Each and every one of them will move on to accomplish great things,” said Senator Tony Mendoza. “Throughout this process, they have learned how a bill becomes law, how cities and municipalities operate in today’s complex world, how water is delivered to each household, and how unions and small businesses add to the economic development of our communities.”

Forty-eight seniors representing 25 high schools in Senate District 32 participated in the graduation. Photos from the event may be found at:

YSLP provides high school seniors with the unique opportunity to learn about California’s government and legislative process. Students participate in a broad range of activities, including researching local issues, attending meetings with legislative staff, assisting constituents, and traveling to Sacramento for a mock legislative session in the State Capitol.
