Sacramento – Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) on Friday held a successful town hall meeting in Norwalk regarding his bill, SB 648, which would establish oversight for referral agencies that refer clients to residential care facilities for the elderly. Local seniors and their families, along with representatives from referral agencies and other stakeholders, attended the town hall meeting. SB 648 is currently pending in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Sacramento – A measure, SB 1342, authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) that would protect workers by paving the way for a statewide mechanism at the local level to fight wage theft, was signed by Governor Brown today. The bill will go into effect on January 1, 2017.

“I thank Governor Brown for signing SB 1342,” said Senator Tony Mendoza. “This bill protects hard-working Californians by clarifying the ability of cities and counties to investigate non-compliance with local wage laws.”

Sacramento – Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) and the Contractors State License Board  will host a free seminar on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to provide information to seniors on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.

The seminar will be held at the Buena Park Senior Activity Center, 8150 Knott Ave, Buena Park, CA 90620.

Sacramento – A measure, SB 1342, authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) that would protect workers by paving the way for a statewide mechanism at the local level to fight wage theft, was given final approval today with a unanimous bipartisan concurrence vote of the State Senate. The measure now goes to Governor Brown for his consideration.

“I am pleased that my SB 1342 was given final approval by the State Senate today on a unanimous bipartisan vote,” said Senator Tony Mendoza.

Requires Elder Care Referral Agency Licensing, Inspections & Financial Disclosure

Sacramento - Senate Bill 648 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza was approved today by the Assembly Judiciary Committee on a unanimous bipartisan vote. The bill will strengthen inspection, licensing and financial disclosure requirements in order to protect seniors and their families from elder care referral agencies that engage in unscrupulous business practices. The bill now goes to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for consideration.
