Senator Mendoza Applauds Approval of the Funds

Sacramento – Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) released the following statement regarding the approval, on an 11 to 0 vote, of $18 million of Measure R funds by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority Board (MTA) for the Eco-Rapid Transit light-rail line. The funds will be used for predevelopment and planning of Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) along the West Santa Ana Branch.

SB 1072 would require school buses in California to be equipped with child-safety alarm systems to ensure that children are not left on buses unattended and in potentially hazardous circumstances.

SB 1011 Will Help Prevent Unethical Personal Enrichment in Government Contracting

Sacramento – A bill that strengthens California’s conflict of interest laws and restores public trust and accountability was introduced today by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia).

SB 1011 will strengthen the conflict of interest law by expanding the definition of family and what constitutes a financial conflict of interest for public officials when voting on government contracts before any governmental body, board or commission of which that public officer is a member.

Licensing & Financial Disclosures Required

Sacramento- Senate Bill 648, authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), was approved by the State Senate today on a bipartisan vote. The bill will protect seniors and their families from elder care referral agencies that engage in unscrupulous business practices by strengthening licensing and financial disclosure requirements. The bill now goes to the State Assembly for consideration.
