Los Angeles Unified School District’s Use of Teacher Disciplinary Process to be Examined

Sacramento – The Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) today approved an audit request by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) regarding the use of “Teacher Jail” by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). See audit request letter below. This audit will be conducted by California State Auditor Elaine M. Howle’s office.

Sacramento – In his first legislative act of the New Year, Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) adjourned the California State Senate in memory of three area residents, Downey Police Officer Ricky Galvez, special needs student Hun Joon “Paul” Lee and California State University Long Beach student Nohemi Gonzalez.

“It is an honor for me to adjourn the California State Senate in memory of these area residents. My thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends and colleagues during this difficult time,” said Senator Tony Mendoza.

Sacramento – Today at the Santa Fe Springs Town Center Hall, Los Angeles area chambers of commerce and the small business community came together for a free workshop hosted by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) and the California Civil Justice Association to educate local businesses on how to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and avoid drive-by lawsuits while improving access to facilities and services for persons with disabilities.
