Sacramento – The State Senate today unanimously approved Senate Concurrent Resolution 111 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), which designates a portion of Interstate 5 in Los Angeles, as the “Downey Police Officer Ricardo Galvez Memorial Highway.” SCR 111 now goes to the State Assembly for consideration.

Sacramento – A measure, SB 1342, authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) that would protect workers by paving the way for a statewide mechanism at the local level to fight wage theft, was approved today by the State Senate on a unanimous bipartisan of 37 to 0 vote. The bill now goes to the State Assembly for consideration.

Sacramento – More than a hundred area residents attended a free citizenship fair on Saturday in Norwalk hosted by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), along with the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, Cerritos College, National Association of Latino Elected Officials Education Fund, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) and the Council of Mexican Federations (COFEM).

“The citizenship fair provided area residents with information as well as assistance completing their documentation for citizenship,” said Senator Tony Mendoza.

Sacramento – Today, the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee approved SB 1472 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), on a bipartisan vote of 6 to 3. The bill will increase the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors from 14 to 16 members. The bill now goes for consideration before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
